THE EXTRAS

Bill Yates was a friend of Deirdre's. Bill would often be over at Deirdre's fixing things like the plumbing or nailing the roof back onto the old shed in the garden or fixing loose cupboards in the kitchen.
Once in a blue moon Deirdre would offer to show a bit of flesh and get playful and cheeky with Bill and on the very rare occasion she would allow Bill to fondle with her boobs to make sure he finished the work she had set out for him. Once the job was completed she never paid him. Knowing he was an alcoholic, her cunning plan was to get him drunk and then make him forget how much she owed him and as time went on her excuses were beyond a joke.
Later Bill tried to molest Tanya in the kitchen whilst Deirdre was out and Tanya hit him over the head with a saucepan, Bill fell to the floor, Tanya went into a panic she rolled him up into black rubbish sakes to hide his body. She then went and got a spade from the garden shed. She was in such a panic and believed she had killed Bill. So she decided she would bury him in the back garden to get rid of the evidence, but as she was facing away from him. Bill managed to gain conscience and sat up slightly in the black rubbish sacks and accidently Tanya swung around so quickly to get down to taking the body out into the garden that the spade she was holding whacked hard into his head killing him instantly. Tanya was worrying so much she didn't see what she had done.
This puppet we see before us was the first version of the character Pat Askew although the puppet was later designed and wears the same jumper.

NEIL DUNCAN
Neil Duncan is from Australia and runs the local convenience shop in Stapleton village. He's a very reserved man and has little to do with the folk in Thatch Close. He has often been let down by the people in that part of the village. He has little trust in them after the police arrested Sasha Longley who broke into the shop in the middle of the night and destroyed all his stock. This was actually a set up and the act was performed by Deirdre Fisher with gloves on. Whilst Tanya Fisher was doing shifts and having been given a key to lock up of a night Deirdre used it to brake in and later set
Sasha up with the police for the criminal act.

MIKE WILSONMike Wilson was the milkman and ran his own milk round in 'Stapleton' he was found to be having an affiar with Sasha's mother Mrs Longley. When Esta found out about the rumour that spread around the close by Deirdre Fisher. Esta through him out on the streets. Esta had no work and could only afford to keep their two children Tommy and Tammy with Mike's wages. She eventually moved him back in and forgave him even though he lost his job. One fine day Mike had just finished building their back garden when a U.F.O full of aliens came down and Mike was abducted. Later we see his burnt body come crashing down from the sky landing by Dorothy Butterworth's feet.
TERESA 'MILK' MELISH
The are many characters who seem to not get as much publicity on 'Thatch Close' so here on blogger we will cover a few and give them some well deserved limelight.

Teresa 'Milk' Melish was friends of Maria Welsh and Kathy Collins they all worked with each other at 'Maxwell's Organisations' a block of offices in the city dealing in insurance and shares. The original idea for an earlier series was called 'Women On Top' and the three characters Kathy, Maria and Teresa would have all starred as the main characters, but the plots and writing was not up to scratch so unfortunately Teresa's role took a bit of a back seat we think she's still asleep at Maria's house. She loves her milk and is always sleeping she's quite nosey so Maria beware.
